VIOLIN

Willard

Willard is an Australian violinist and has been teaching violin and viola for over 6 years. He has been delighted to help people of all ages and abilities find their musical voices, whether it be beginners, or those preparing for conservatoire auditions or competitions. He has had students from AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) Grade 1 all the way to LMusA pass their exams with flying colours (ABRSM 8+ equivalent), and regularly coaches chamber groups and leads orchestral sectionals as an orchestral tutor.

While he is experienced in Suzuki and the Colourstrings methods, Willard tailors his teaching approach to each student as individuals, so that they may shine in their own unique ways.

Willard Zhong’s mission as a violinist is to invite connection through raw and honest storytelling. As a soloist, he has performed the Sibelius, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Mendelssohn concerti throughout Europe, Australia, and the UK. He has also enjoyed wonderful masterclasses with Noah Bendix-Balgley, the Takásc Quartet, and Wolfgang Redik. He has a deep love for chamber music and has performed in the Mimir Chamber Festival in America and the Guildhall Chamber Music Festival, a highlight of which was an improvised performance around Schubert’s Rosamunde and the Mendelssohn Octet in collaboration with the Zora Quartet.
